New Projects

New Project

You can create new Projects containing the identical set of documents based on previously defined template Projects. Click the New icon in the Tool Bar (or choose New... from the File menu, or type Command-N, Control-N on Windows & Linux).

New Blank Project
Click the ‘Blank’ button. A new empty project folder will be placed in the DocHaven folder. It is designed to allow you to drag in files from another source such as emails, CDs or browser downloads. Most applications (e.g. Office) will allow you to ‘Save As…’ into the DocHaven folders as well.

Create New from Template
  • Highlight (command-click and shift-click, or control-click on Windows & Linux) the Projects you want to create a new Project from then click the ‘Create New From’ button.
  • A set of new projects will be downloaded that are the exact copies of projects you highlighted with the prefix ‘New’ added.

New from Smart (Macintosh only)
  • Click the ‘Smart’ button to open the ‘New Smart Project’ window.
  • Click the boxes to specify what areas you want included.
  • Click the ‘Create’ button. A new project will be added to your DocHaven folder containing aliases of all the areas you had highlighted.
  • Use the Boomerang function to resolve then backup these alias folders to the server, keeping the local files and aliases intact. Note: if you perform a Put Away rather than a Boomerang, all the aliases will be permanently resolved.

Reveal
Check the ‘Reveal’ check box to show the new project in the Finder.

Web Content
If the Web Content option is not greyed, you can choose a server on which to store an uncompressed copy of your Project each time you put the Project away. This web content copy is in addition to the normal version stored on the normal server and the user is given the choice to save the web content version on each Put Away command. The web content copy stores the files in the folder with the same name as the Project number. It does not store multiple versions, but overwrites any existing content in this sub-folder. This may be useful where you have given certain users permission to publish material to a server, but don’t want to give them an FTP client nor usernames and passwords to that FTP server nor the ability to view other sections of the FTP server.

Options
  • Note that there is no copy of these new Projects on the server until you put them away the first time.
  • Template Projects are normal Projects with the ‘Template’ option checked. To disable a template uncheck the Template checkbox in either the Window-Database-Projects window or the Inspector when you have the project out.
  • Users can only see templates for which they are either the Owner or a Group member.
