DocHaven normally compresses and expands files without any user intervention. As the files are in Zip format they can usually be unzipped with any common unzip program under Macintosh, Windows or Linux. If a user has a DocHaven compressed zip project, such as one from an export or backup, it can be expanded using the DocHaven UnZip command.
- Choose ‘UnZip’ from the Manage menu.
- Choose the file/folder containing the DocHaven zip files.
- Click OK. DocHaven will now unzip the specified files, deleting the original zip versions.
Options
- The main benefit of using the DocHaven command is that if the zip file contains files with MacOS resource forks these will be fully expanded rather than some internal files being left as MacBinary files.
- MacBinary files can be expanded using Stuffit Expander.
- Note that while most UnZip utilities retain the compressed file after an unzip takes place, the DocHaven UnZip will delete the original zip file.
