Database

  • Choose Database from the Window menu (command-shift-D on Macintosh or control-shift-D on Windows or Linux).
  • The Database window appears with a series of tabs across the top of the window, one for each type of record.
  • Click a tab to view the records for that type. Note that none of the record’s ID numbers can be changed and there are a number of elements at the bottom of the screen that are common across all records.

Common Elements:
  • the slider allows you to position the record being viewed by dragging the slider block from side to side. The navigation slider only shows you the position of the current record, but allows you to quickly jump forwards and backwards through the records.
  • click ‘Show All’ to display every record for that type.
  • click ‘Find’ to display a window allowing you to choose a range of records to view. If you only enter just one number in the ‘Start’ field, only that one record is returned, you can leave the other fields blank. If you enter two numbers (i.e. both the start and end fields) then that range of records will be returned. If you enter text in the Find Text field it will return all records containing that text.
  • some records allow you to click ‘New’ or ‘Delete’ records depending on their applicability. This allows you to create some new records or clean up old records.
  • And finally, making changes to a record on screen then sliding or navigating to another record will not save the changes, nor will clicking onto a different tab — you must click ‘Update’ to save the changes.
  • You can close the Records window by clicking the Cancel button, choosing Close from the File window, typing Command-W, pressing the Esc key or clicking the window’s close button.
