Crop vs Scale

Subscribe Screen Options

When you Subscribe to a Publisher’s screen you have no control over the Publisher’s computer resolution nor the size of the portion of the screen that is being captured. Likewise the Publisher has not knowledge of what computer you as the Subscriber are using. For this reason you may decide to change between Cropping the screen or scaling the screen to fit. Remember that cropping and scaling are for viewing only and do not affect the downloaded image itself.

Scaling lets you view the whole image by stretching it into the available image box size. This may cause the screen to be out of proportion or make smaller text sizes harder to read. Cropping keeps the screen at the original resolution (horizontally and vertically) but cuts off the screen should it go over the edge. Cropped screens are easier to read but some material might not be visible.

When to Scale
If the whole of the Publisher screen is important to view or the Publisher’s screen is smaller than yours. Setting the image to fullscreen may make the screen more readable.

When to Crop
If it is imperative to be able to read the fine details on the screen or the important items are in the top left of the screen. Setting the image to fullscreen or zooming the window may make the screen more readable.
